Community outreach event: Miwok Middle School

On March 12, 150 students from Miwok Middle School, Sacramento, visited nano@stanford to learn about nanotechnology and engineering careers. They were given the opportunity to tour the SNF and SNSF, participate in hands-on activities and demonstrations, and interact with researchers. Our postdoc Lukas Michalek led some of these activities and shared his research journey with the participants. The talk was a particular highlight for some of the students, who said it "changed [their] perspective on colleges and pathways" and who found his work "amazing how you can combine different traits to make a better product". It was a great day supporting STEM education and inspiring a diverse group of next generation STEM students!
