Chemical engineering graduate student Gaurav "Gino" Giri received the 2013 Melvin P. Klein Scientific Development Award from the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource (SSRL). Gino's work in the in-situ imaging of X-ray diffraction patterns from solution sheared thin films has been featured on the March 2013 cover of Physica Status Solidi - Rapid and his pivotal work documenting lattice strain in TIPS-pentacene was published in Nature. His studies of the strained crystal structures of various organic semiconductors have required extensive use of synchrotron radiation sources and involved many collaborators at various institutions across the world. To quote the Cornell High Energy Synchrotron Source's (CHESS) website, Gino's award is very much "well-deserved." Congratulations!
